About Amestoy Estates

Amestoy Estates is a small community in the San Fernando Valley region of Los Angeles and a part of the Encino neighborhood. It has about 575 properties as well as condominiums and apartments. Most lots are quite large and the sprawling ranch-style home is a typical sight here.

This community does not have many sidewalks until you get to Ventura Boulevard’s commerce section which includes Starbucks and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Encino Park on Genesta Avenue provides playgrounds, a basketball court, tennis courts, and picnic tables for local families. This hideaway attracts celebrities like Ray Romano who frequents Quincy’s BB and Edward James Olmos. Actor Phil Hartman lived in Amestoy Estates when he was sadly shot to death by his wife in 1988.

Amestoy Estates was developed from land purchased by Domingo Amestoy. He was a Basque sheepherder during the 1860’s and went on to become one of the state’s largest wool producers. Shortly after buying Rancho los Encinos with over 4,000 acres, he passed away. His sons continued to run the ranch and many years later the area was rezoned to half-acre lots. The neighborhood began to grow with its charming oak and walnut trees attracting big stars like Esther Williams.

The Los Angeles Unified School District serves the families of Amestoy Estates and offers facilities like highly ranked Encino Elementary, De Portola Middle School, and Birmingham High School. The homes here, priced in the millions, are the essence of elegant living. Magazine style homes feature designer inspirations like Italian wall tiles, custom made fireplaces, French doors, and sky-lit closets. Master suites open up to the peaceful backyard and luxury bathrooms have been updated for modern convenience. In front the brick courtyard welcomes guests and the home entertainer waits in the backyard by the shimmering pool. And there is plenty of room for RV parking or when company arrives.
